Ben Affleck’s new crime thrill movei “The Town” – which he not only stars in but also wrote and directed – opened inmovei threats

today, and it looks like it’s been getting some pretty good reviews. I thought I’d search the Internet, and bring you a few.

The first review I thought I’d write about is from Kofi Outlaw over at screenrant.com, which in fact gives it an impressive rating of 4.5 out of 5. Ben Affleck already proved himself to be a pretty good director, with his first feature-length directional “Gone Baby Gone.

It appears that he has proved his directional skills yet again with “The Town,” which is all about a town called Charleston in Boston that has earned itself a reputation for being the “bank robbery capital of America.” The performances are praised in this review as well.

The next review comes from Stephen Whitty at nj.com. This review gave the movie a 3 star rating and again praises the performances, describing a few of them as solid. Two performances that appear to be praised the most however are the ones from Jeremy and Blake Lively.

f you had a nickel for every movie that featured criminals engaged in one last big score, you could probably afford to mount a Broadway musical production of Avatar. (James Cameron, if you’re reading this – no need to thank me.) The Town adds a slight but important twist, however: The criminal doesn’t really want to do the job.

The reluctant robber is Ben Affleck, who also co-wrote the screenplay (based on Chuck Hogan’s novel Prince of Thieves) and directed the film. This is Affleck’s first writing-directing gig since his well-received Gone Baby Gone in 2007, and the first time he has combined all three talents in one film. If he felt thinly spread, it doesn’t show.

The movie opens with a bang, as Doug MacRay (Affleck) leads a gang of four who attack a Boston bank with brutal efficiency. There are fascinating details right off the bat, as the robbers throw the employees’ collected cellphones into a fishbowl, and bleach the crime scene to kill any trace of DNA evidence.

The Daily Show host and New York cover boy announced on Thursday night that he will be holding “The Rally to Restore Sanity” in Washington D.C. The rally – which he later dubbed the “Million Moderate March” – will take place October 30.

“Who among us has not wanted to open their window and shout that at the top of their lungs? Seriously, who? Because we’re looking for those people. We’re looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat.”

Stewart also promised to have some signs available at the rally, since he understands everyone usually has “shit to do.” He held up a few of them, emblazoned with messages like “9/11 was an outside job” and “I Disagree With You But I’m Pretty Sure You’re Not Hitler.”

Twenty20 cricket is all about the big hits, and last night’s clash between the Mumbai Indians and the South Australia Redbacks in the Champions League Twenty20 certainly delivered. For the Redbacks, captain Michael Klinger smashed three maximums over the boundary (he’s currently leading the six stats in the tournament with eight), the Indians Saurabh Tiwary posted four sixes, but the destroyer-in-chief was West Indies batter Kieron Pollard.

Pollard’s 36 runs off 21 balls included three sixes, but the highlight without a doubt was his monstrous smash off Australian speedster Shaun Tait. Tait pitched a fairly quick short ball at Pollard’s head – quick as flash the West Indian pounced, hooking the ball high into the sky, and way over the stands into the dark night. The six measured a huge 120m.

When discussing the Harry & David catalogs, people immediately rave about the fabulous photography. But it takes more than pretty, or even mouth-wateringly luscious pictures to win an MCM Award. Harry & David’s Holiday Gift Collection 2009 earned its Gold Award in the Food/Gifts, Sales Over $20 Million Print category by juxtaposing great photos with a broad range of products and stellar service offerings.

Gourmet food company Harry and David of the beloved Moose Munch snacks reported on their fiscal year yesterday citing a net loss of $39.2 million and net sales 12.8% lower than last year. What does this mean for the gift-basket slinging, Medford-based brothers? Will I still be able to satisfy my salty and sweet treat cravings? Immediately I thought of the gifts I’ve received from my Oregonian friends, baskets filled with blueberry-shaped jars and jams that we spread on toast and pressed between sandwiches. I worried that the giant-sized Moose Munch would no longer grace the shelves of Costco as the holiday season rolled in, and then what would I buy for beneath the Christmas tree? Because, really, no one does chocolate-covered caramel corn quite like Harry and David. What basket of fruit.
